MEETING YOU WHERE YOU ARE AT
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
SUPPORTING YOU IN OVERCOMING OBSTACLES TO YOUR WELL-BEING
You might face challenges that are hard to face alone - and you do not have to. Individual therapy is a joint process between the therapist and the person in therapy with the goal of improving the quality of your life.
Wether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, anger, challenging relationships, effects of trauma, addiction, parenting, grief … or other trials that are impacting your life, counselling can provide the support needed to overcome the difficulties and suffering.
You are the expert on your life. I would be honoured to join you in achieving healthier relationships with those you love and help you discover the best version of yourself.
CHILD THERAPY
HELPING CHILDREN COPE, OVERCOME AND REDISCOVER THEIR TRUE SELF
Kids experience and communicate emotional distress, such as life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety & depression and traumatic experiences, differently. Whether they struggle socially, have difficulty learning, act aggressively or have negative beliefs and feelings about themselves they need an age appropriate way of expressing what is happening inside of them.
Enabling your child through play therapy and other creative and child appropriate methods to discover and communicate what is going on inside of them is the foundation for positive change. Developing age appropriate tools and coping strategies allows them to establish healthy and effective skills that will serve them for a lifetime.
I have supported children for over 30 years and count it as the greatest privilege and joy to join them in the discovery of their true potential and inner self.
ADOLESCENT THERAPY
ASSISTING TEENS THROUGH DIFFICULT CHANGES
Teenagers go through a multitude of physical, emotional, mental and social changes. This greatly impacts their moods and behaviours. Some of this is normal development. But this vulnerable phase of life amplifies the risk of mental health challenges, self harm and suicide. The impact of difficult childhood experiences usually surfaces when puberty hits.
Adolescents are often apprehensive to engage in therapy. A safe environment and patience is needed to help them to open up about their problems. Attentive non-judgemental listening and unconditional acceptance of who they are is essential.
Helping youth to discover and appreciate their identity, supporting them in developing healthy coping strategies and managing their struggles is a privilege that never ceases to lose its joy.
TRAUMA THERAPY
LEARNING TO MOVE PAST TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES
Trauma can lead to overwhelming emotional, psychological and physical pain, leaving you feeling unsafe and lost. You might be in a permanent state of alertness to potential danger or feel emotionally numb. Processing what you have experienced and finding a way to heal is a journey that should be done with the help of a professional trauma therapist.
Healing from trauma and moving past the terrible things that happened to you is possible. A variety of trauma-specific treatments have proven to help those suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic impacts to live a fulfilled life. I use a multimodal approach adjusted to the personality of my client and the nature of the traumatic event(s).
